These terms govern your use of the CodeGuru AI – OBD2 Scanner app (package com.codeguru.obd2), published on Google Play by CG Technologies ("we", "our", "us"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What the app does

The app connects to an ELM327 OBD-II adapter plugged into your vehicle and reports what the vehicle's control units say: fault codes, live sensor values, freeze-frame data, emission monitor status and vehicle identification data. It can also send a request to clear stored fault codes.

The app reports. It does not repair, and it does not inspect. What it shows is what your vehicle reported at that moment, decoded against a reference list of codes.

2. Safety — please read this one

• Do not operate the app while driving. Connect the adapter, start any recording, and put the phone down before you move off. If you want live readings on the road, have a passenger hold the phone.
• A fault code is not a diagnosis. It names a circuit or a condition the module noticed. Finding the actual cause is a job for a qualified mechanic with the vehicle in front of them.
• Clearing codes does not repair anything. It erases the module's stored fault memory and resets the emission readiness monitors. If the fault is still present the light will come back. Clearing before an emissions test can cause that test to fail, because the monitors will not be ready.
• Do not ignore a warning light because the app suggests the reading looks normal. If a vehicle is unsafe to drive, stop driving it.
• Decisions about repairs, parts and roadworthiness are yours, and you make them at your own risk.

3. Your adapter

The OBD-II adapter is hardware you buy separately, from someone else. We do not make it, sell it or warrant it. Adapters vary a great deal in quality, and a poor one can misreport values, drop the connection, or fail to support some of what the app asks for. Leaving an adapter plugged in when the vehicle is parked can drain its battery; that is a property of the adapter, not of this app.

4. Subscription and payments

• The app is free to use. A paid subscription removes advertising and unlocks the full sensor list and the full system scan.
• The subscription is monthly and renews automatically until you cancel it. The price charged is the price Google Play shows for your country.
• All payments are processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your payment details.
• You can cancel at any time in Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund charges already taken.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play under Google's refund policy.
• We may change what the subscription includes or what it costs. Any price change is applied by Google Play under its own rules, which require your consent before an increased price is charged.

5. Advertising

The free version shows adverts supplied by Google AdMob. We do not choose the individual adverts and are not responsible for their content or for anything they link to.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app on a vehicle you have no right to work on;
• use it for anything illegal, including defeating emission controls or tampering with a vehicle's recorded data;
• reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where law expressly allows it;
• interfere with its operation, or with the services it relies on.

7. Our content

The app, its design and its text belong to us or to our licensors. The trouble-code reference and the vehicle profiles it ships with are used under their own licences, which are listed inside the app. You may use the app; you may not copy, redistribute or resell it.

8. Availability

We try to keep the app working, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. Features may be added, changed or removed. Some features depend on your vehicle supporting them, and many vehicles do not support all of them.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, or from anything done or not done on the strength of what it reported. That includes damage to a vehicle, the cost of repairs, a failed inspection, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Privacy

Your use of the app is also covered by our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Nothing here removes any consumer protection you have under the law of the country you live in.
